Kocherlball am Chinesischen Turm in München
As the sun rises, Munich transforms into a city of early risers during the Kocherlball, where thousands gather at dawn to dance and celebrate around the Chinese Tower in the English Garden. This lively festival sees guests dressed in traditional outfits such as lederhosen, dirndls, or historical costumes, eagerly waiting at candle-adorned tables for the festivities to begin. At 6 AM, the event kicks off with four hours of traditional Bavarian folk dances including Landler, Zwiefacher, Polka, Waltz, and the legendary Münchner Francaise. Each dance is introduced, allowing everyone to join in.
The Kocherlball has been celebrated since 1989 in the English Garden, commemorating the traditional Sunday balls of Munich's household staff, which were banned in 1904.
