Fragment of an Infinite Discourse
Fragment of an Infinite Discourse is an exhibition featuring contemporary art from the Lenbachhaus, including the donation by Jörg Johnen and the KiCo Foundation. The title references a work by the Mexican conceptual artist Mario García Torres, consisting of three interlocking glass rings that do not touch each other. This artwork serves as the introduction to the exhibition, illustrating how subtly and inextricably things are connected, sparking various associations, feelings, and interpretations. The rings visually represent the infinite form of a circle.
The exhibition aims to encapsulate the richness of conceptual positions while opening up multiple avenues for interpretation and perspective.
Featured artists include Rosa Barba, Maria Bartuszová, AA Bronson, David Claerbout, Katharina Fritsch, Maureen Gallace, Ryan Gander, Mario García Torres, General Idea, Rodney Graham, Giorgio Griffa, Wade Guyton, Eberhard Havekost, Olaf Holzapfel, Raimer Jochims, On Kawara, Barbara Klemm, Fritz Klemm, Beate Kuhn, Isa Melsheimer, Prabhavathi Meppayil, Florin Mitroi, Johannes Nagel, Senga Nengudi, Roman Ondak, Helga Paris, Stephen Prina, Anri Sala, Karin Sander, Wilhelm Sasnal, Tino Sehgal, Wiebke Siem, Phil Sims, Florian Süssmayr, Rosemarie Trockel, Jeff Wall, and Peter Welz.
