Einzug der Wiesnwirte 2025
The annual procession of the Oktoberfest hosts, known as the Einzug der Wiesnwirte, will commence in Josephspitalstraße at around 10:45 AM on September 20, 2025. The parade will travel along Sonnenstraße and Schwanthalerstraße, ultimately arriving at Bavariaring, where the beautifully decorated carriages will enter Wirtsbudenstraße.
This grand event features over 1,000 participants, including the Wiesn hosts in their festive carriages, along with waitstaff and music bands. Showmen and market traders will also join in the celebration, riding in elaborately adorned floats pulled by elegant horses.
Leading the procession will be the Münchner Kindl, while Mayor Dieter Reiter will ride in the Schottenhamel festival carriage, making his way directly to the Schottenhamel tent. There, he will officially open the Oktoberfest at 12 PM with the much-anticipated words "O'zapft is!" during the tapping of the first keg.
Viewers can watch the parade for free along the route, and there will be three grandstands set up on Sonnenstraße, where tickets are available for purchase through MünchenTicket.
Historically, the tradition of the host's parade dates back to 1879 when Hans Steyrer first drove his festively adorned carriage onto the Theresienwiese. The first joint festive entry of the major breweries took place in 1925, marking the beginning of this highlight in the Oktoberfest calendar. Additionally, the traditional Trachten- und Schützenzug occurs the day after the opening, where local groups and guests parade through the city to the Theresienwiese.
