Ein unvermutetes Geschenk: Schubert, Rilke und Ullmann
Join us for an extraordinary evening celebrating the 150th birthday of Rainer Maria Rilke. The event features Viktor Ullmann's musical setting of Rilke's poem Die Weise von Liebe und Tod des Cornets Christoph Rilke, which Rilke penned in a single autumn night in 1899. This poignant work intertwines language and music, telling a compelling story of coming of age in a fractured world. Ullmann's melodrama captures the inner turmoil and longing of a young soldier seeking connection and meaning.
The program also includes Schubert's Impromptus Op. 90, providing a romantic soundscape that complements the evening. The performance is reminiscent of a song recital, showcasing a delicate interplay of words and music, interpreted by Helmut Mooshammer (speaker) and Senka Brankovic (piano).
"A tender dialogue between voice and piano" - this is how the press describes the fusion of word and music in the interpretation by Senka Brankovic and Helmut Mooshammer.
