Carsten-Caren Lewerentz und Susanne Winter: Werden
The textile artist Susanne Winter and the sculptor Carsten-Caren Lewerentz engage both technically and thematically with the concept of becoming, which is a fundamental question of life. Their works symbolize change, transformation, and unfolding, as well as the quest for identity. Lewerentz's sculptures represent discarded clothing crafted in wood and bronze, symbolizing empty human shells that can undergo transformation and new beginnings. In her material-focused color landscapes, Susanne Winter utilizes a sewing machine and embroidery needle on paper. Through the back-and-forth of threads, and by creating densifications and knots, thread drawings emerge with colorful areas and tactile forms.
