Ausstellung PINK
PINK: An Exhibition on the Significance of Color in Art and Daily Life
"Pink matters," especially in times like these! The exhibition PINK, running from March 13 to August 3, 2025, at the Pasinger Fabrik, explores the meaning of the color pink in art and everyday life. The show features works from nearly 30 artists and includes a program filled with dance, theater, film, and workshops where guests can engage artistically and experiment with the color pink.
Historically, pink represented masculinity until the Rococo period. With the French Revolution, its meaning shifted as men moved away from colorful clothing, leading to pink being embraced by women. The launch of the first Barbie doll in a pink package in 1959 solidified pink as the "girl color," often stereotypically symbolizing femininity in Western Europe. However, in the fight for equality, pink also stands for empowerment and self-determination regarding sexuality and life choices.
This exhibition reflects contemporary art's symbolic meanings of the color and its societal appropriation.
