Remscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia - A significant police operation unfolded on Friday evening following a knife attack involving children. Law enforcement officers apprehended a man in jogging pants, who was restrained on the ground outside a residential property. This incident arose from a previous altercation among two young boys, resulting in the deployment of a special operations unit (SEK) to the home of the victim.

On Thursday, it was reported that an eleven-year-old boy of Iraqi descent stabbed a thirteen-year-old German boy in the leg with a kitchen knife. The confrontation began when the older boy allegedly struck the younger one multiple times. In response, the eleven-year-old reportedly defended himself with a weapon, inflicting a minor injury on his opponent before fleeing the scene. He was later apprehended by authorities.

On Friday evening, the SEK executed a search warrant at the residence of the victim in Remscheid following tips from witnesses suggesting the presence of weapons in the home. A substantial contingent of police officers stormed the location and removed a male individual, reportedly a relative of the victim.

According to a police spokesperson, initial investigations indicated that the allegations of weapon possession were unfounded. However, the operation was not directly related to the prior incident from Thursday. A total of three residences were searched during the operation. Reports indicate that the parents of the thirteen-year-old live separately.

Both children involved in the altercation are under the age of 14 and therefore considered legally incapable of being punished under German law. Consequently, the question of whether the eleven-year-old acted in legitimate self-defense does not apply in this context. The Wuppertal public prosecutor's office confirmed that under current legal standards, minors under 14 years are deemed not criminally responsible.

The case highlights growing concerns about youth violence and the need for effective measures to address conflicts among children. With the involvement of specialized police units, authorities are taking the matter seriously, reflecting broader societal issues regarding child safety and conflict resolution.
