An 85-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Berlin-Weißensee. Despite undergoing emergency surgery, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after midnight, as reported by the Berlin police.
The tragic incident occurred on a Wednesday afternoon when the elderly woman was attempting to cross the road at the intersection of Berliner Allee and Mahlerstraße, heading towards Tassostraße. A 35-year-old motorcyclist, accompanied by a passenger, was approaching the crossing when he reportedly attempted to brake suddenly, causing the motorcycle to skid and collide with the woman.
Emergency services promptly transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, her injuries were too severe for medical staff to save her. The motorcyclist and his 35-year-old passenger also sustained injuries to their limbs and received immediate medical attention at the scene.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to this unfortunate incident.
