A serious traffic incident occurred in the Treptow-Köpenick district of Berlin, where a 20-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing a pedestrian crosswalk. The accident took place on Thursday evening around 5:10 PM when a 74-year-old man driving a Volkswagen along Schnellerstraße collided with the young pedestrian shortly after passing Rudower Straße.

As a result of the impact, the woman was thrown to the ground and sustained significant head injuries. Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene and transported her to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This incident follows a similar case earlier this month in Lichtenberg, which drew considerable public attention after a two-year-old child lost their life in a traffic accident involving an 84-year-old driver at a crosswalk. The tragic event sparked community outrage and calls for increased safety measures at pedestrian crossings.

In light of these recent events, local residents are voicing their concerns about pedestrian safety in the city. Many are demanding that city officials take action to prevent such accidents from happening in the future, urging for more awareness and improved traffic regulations.
