Alcohol-Related Incidents Surge Over Easter Weekend in Brandenburg

During the Easter celebrations, the police in Brandenburg reported a significant increase in incidents involving alcohol consumption. Festivities such as Easter bonfires and parades were held throughout the region, contributing to a surge in public disorder.

One notable incident occurred in Bad Belzig, where a 19-year-old was arrested for assaulting a 40-year-old man at a public event. Both individuals were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the altercation.

In a separate incident on Saturday evening in Spremberg, a 38-year-old driver caused a traffic accident that resulted in five injuries. Breathalyzer tests revealed an alarming blood alcohol concentration of 2.56 promille, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 0.5 promille for driving in Germany.

In Eichwalde, a man was apprehended for stealing several beer bottles from a snack bar. When confronted, he brandished a 15-centimeter kitchen knife outside the establishment.

Another incident occurred in Neuruppin, where a 47-year-old man was reported for causing a disturbance in a hospital while heavily intoxicated. Police officers noted that his breath alcohol level exceeded two promille, leading to his detention.

At Berlin Brandenburg Airport, authorities discovered a man consuming a white powder at a terminal. Subsequent investigations confirmed the substance to be amphetamines.

Road safety was also compromised, as police conducted traffic checks that revealed multiple cases of individuals operating vehicles while intoxicated. In Massen, a cyclist was caught riding against traffic with a breath alcohol level of 1.9 promille. Additionally, a driver in Großbeeren was found to be operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of 1.5 promille. Across the state, numerous cases of driving under the influence were documented among motorists, cyclists, and e-scooter users.
