Early Morning Attack on LGBTQ Anti-Violence Initiative in Berlin

In a troubling escalation of violence, the Maneo anti-violence project, which supports the LGBTQ community in Berlin, has been targeted for the second time in a week. The latest incident occurred in the early hours, around 3:40 AM, when unknown assailants vandalized a door and window at the project's premises located in the diverse Schöneberg district.

A witness alerted the police after hearing the sound of breaking glass and seeing two individuals fleeing the scene. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a stone on the ground, which appeared to have been used to break the windows. The state criminal police's political crime unit has since launched an investigation into the incident.

Maneo has been providing essential support, including victim assistance and violence prevention services, to gay, lesbian, and other sexual minorities for decades. This recent act of vandalism follows a similar attack that took place on September 28, highlighting a concerning pattern of aggression against the project.
