The Dussmann Group, widely recognized for its cultural department store in Berlin, has reported a record financial performance for the year 2024. The company generated a total revenue of EUR3.3 billion, marking an increase of 8.4% compared to the previous year, according to the chair of the foundation council, Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann.

The surge in revenue is attributed primarily to significant contracts in the fields of facility management and technical systems. The company also noted an increase in profitability during this period.

While the sales of books, games, and records constitute a minor portion of its operations, the Dussmann Group employs approximately 70,000 personnel across 21 countries. The main revenue streams for the firm include facility management, catering, healthcare services, and technical services, which together accounted for roughly two-thirds of the total income last year.

One of the key growth areas for Dussmann is the construction of technical facilities. In 2024, the company served as the general contractor for a new data center in Germany, attracting clients from the pharmaceutical, retail, and logistics sectors. This segment now represents about one-fifth of the overall revenue and is projected to account for nearly one-third in the medium term.

The healthcare division, which includes the management of kindergartens and senior living facilities, faced challenges in expansion, as no new locations were added during the past year. However, this division also saw an increase in revenue due to higher occupancy rates and increased care fees.

Additionally, the cultural department store in Berlin achieved a record revenue of EUR45 million. Although it is the smallest of the four main business divisions, it remains the most recognizable. The company has stated that it will not pursue the establishment of additional stores, emphasizing the uniqueness of the Berlin location.
