Luhnstedt, Schleswig-Holstein - A tragic incident occurred on Sunday morning when a young woman was fatally struck by a vehicle on a county road in Schleswig-Holstein. Following the collision, the driver fled the scene, leaving the victim behind.

Four days later, authorities have identified the suspect involved in the hit-and-run. The Kiel Public Prosecutor's Office announced that investigations are underway for both hit-and-run and negligent homicide. However, as there are no grounds for pre-trial detention, the alleged driver will not face immediate incarceration. Further details regarding the suspect have not been disclosed by the prosecutor's office.

Reports indicate that two individuals from nearby villages were initially considered as suspects. The forensic team is currently investigating whether the victim might have survived had she received timely medical attention or if the driver had called emergency services right after the accident.

Witnesses reported seeing a lifeless body near the roadside around 9 a.m. on Sunday. Concerned motorists alerted the police upon discovering the woman's body on the grassy verge alongside the county road connecting Luhnstedt to Nindorf. Emergency medical responders, who arrived shortly after, confirmed that the 25-year-old woman was already deceased. Investigators found evidence of a vehicular collision at the scene.

Authorities recovered several car parts during their investigation, including plastic fragments from a headlight cover. Eyewitnesses described a red Mercedes van seen in the area with corresponding damage. To reconstruct the events of the tragic accident, specialists have been called in to assist with the investigation. The police later located the suspect vehicle in a nearby town, Remmels. The collision is estimated to have occurred between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
