Dortmund - A 49-year-old cyclist narrowly escaped an armed confrontation on August 1, 2025, in the Scharnhorst district of Dortmund. The incident unfolded around 1:47 PM on Friedrich-Hölscher-Straße, where the woman was riding her bicycle across the Scharnhorster Bridge.
According to police reports, the suspect approached the cyclist and demanded that she stop. When she did not comply, he brandished a silver handgun, threatening her with the weapon. Fortunately, the quick-thinking woman managed to flee the scene unharmed and promptly alerted law enforcement authorities.
The assailant has been described as a male aged between 20 and 25 years, approximately 1.80 meters tall. He was reportedly wearing a black-and-white hoodie with a hood, a black mask, and black-and-white pants equipped with large pockets. Interestingly, he was also seen holding a bouquet of flowers in his left hand at the time of the incident.
The Dortmund police are actively seeking information from any witnesses who may have seen the altercation or the suspect. They urge anyone with relevant details to contact the Dortmund Criminal Investigation Department at 0231/132-7441.
