Disruptions and Delays Impacting Several S-Bahn Lines in Berlin

Tue 27th May, 2025

Travelers in Berlin are facing significant disruptions and delays on multiple S-Bahn lines due to ongoing signal repairs at Hackescher Markt. The Berlin S-Bahn authorities announced that the affected lines include the S3, S5, S7, and S75.

The S3 line is operating with limited service, running only between Erkner and Alexanderplatz, and also between Friedrichstraße and Spandau. Furthermore, trains between Friedrichshagen and Ostbahnhof are scheduled to run every 10 minutes, causing inconvenience for commuters.

For the S5 line, trains are only running between Strausberg Nord/Hoppegarten and Warschauer Straße. Additionally, there is a 10-minute wait between Mahlsdorf and Warschauer Straße, further complicating travel plans.

The S7 service is also restricted, operating solely between Ahrensfelde and Ostbahnhof, as well as between Zoologischer Garten and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Meanwhile, the S75 line is limited to operating between Wartenberg and Lichtenberg.

On a slightly positive note, the S9 line is continuing its service on a regular schedule, despite facing previous disruptions due to the same signal issue at Hackescher Markt last week. However, trains on the Stadtbahn in Treptower Park are currently running at reduced speeds, which may lead to delays for S8 and S9 lines. The S85 line is not operating at all due to these restrictions.

Unfortunately, the Berlin S-Bahn has not provided an estimated timeline for when normal service will resume on the affected lines, leaving commuters uncertain about their travel plans.
