A former delivery driver for Deutsche Post stands accused of embezzling goods totaling approximately EUR60,000. Over the span of nearly a year, the individual allegedly withheld 66 packages from their intended recipients, according to the prosecution. The case is currently being heard at the Tiergarten District Court, where both the 38-year-old defendant and a co-defendant have chosen to remain silent regarding the allegations.

The accused was operating in the Tempelhof district from late December 2021 until October 29, 2022. Prosecutors allege that during this period, he selectively omitted numerous packages from his delivery route. Among the missing items are high-value electronics such as laptops, smartphones, and AirPods, as well as premium products including a Harley-Davidson exhaust system and a luxury wristwatch valued at EUR3,000.

The charges against the driver include embezzlement and violation of postal and telecommunications secrecy. Eyewitness accounts from undercover police officers have revealed suspicious activities involving the delivery driver. They documented instances where he exited his delivery vehicle with a loaded cart, indicating potential wrongdoing.

According to one police officer involved in the surveillance, they had been monitoring the delivery driver due to reports of missing packages. Observations included instances where the accused would enter a building, followed shortly by another individual who would emerge carrying several packages.

The prosecution has presented compelling evidence suggesting a coordinated effort to misappropriate goods, including testimony from law enforcement officials who were observing the suspect during the alleged offenses. The trial is set to continue on May 27, where further evidence and testimonies are expected to be presented.
