Animation Adventure: Guinea Pigs Take on Superman in 'DC League of Super-Pets'

Sat 5th Jul, 2025

The beloved heroes Batman and Superman are accustomed to saving the world, but in the animated feature 'DC League of Super-Pets,' they face an unexpected adversary: a super-powered guinea pig bent on world domination. This family-friendly film is set to air on Sat.1.

The story begins with an adorable puppy and Superman forming a bond at first sight. However, the animated narrative takes a turn when the dog, Krypto, voiced by Ingo Albrecht, finds himself sidelined as Superman prepares to propose to his girlfriend, Lois Lane, voiced by Emilia Schüle. Feeling neglected, Krypto's once joyous demeanor shifts to disappointment.

While Krypto sulks at home, a scheming guinea pig named Lulu, voiced by Tahnee, seizes the opportunity. Formerly a lab animal, Lulu has long desired to seize control and quickly kidnaps Superman and other members of the Justice League.

In this 2022 film directed by Jared Stern, animals assume superhero roles, presenting a fresh twist on classic DC characters. Stern, known for his work on 'The Lego Batman Movie,' cleverly subverts traditional character dynamics. In this narrative, the villains are not the usual suspects but rather fluffy guinea pigs and cats.

Among the cast of animal heroes are a timid squirrel named Chip, an enthusiastic pig named PB, who idolizes superheroes, and Ace, a dog who finds himself in a shelter after a tragic backstory. The transformation of Krypto from an arrogant sidekick to a leader is a central theme, though it follows a predictable arc.

Despite some clichéd character developments, 'DC League of Super-Pets' delivers engaging battles among the animals and humorous moments, such as Krypto attempting to communicate with 'normal' dogs or Ace mistaking a bidet for a dog fountain.

This animated adventure not only entertains but also offers multiple relatable characters for young audiences, ensuring that fans of the Justice League will appreciate the inclusion of familiar figures like a grumpy Batman, voiced by Torsten Sträter, and an epic showdown featuring Superman's nemesis, Lex Luthor.
