Collision on A2: Truck Breaks Through Median Barrier

Wed 2nd Apr, 2025

A significant incident occurred on the A2 motorway heading towards Berlin, resulting in a chaotic scene following a collision between a truck and a support vehicle. The accident, which took place on a Tuesday evening, left debris scattered across the highway between the Ziesar and Wollin junctions.

According to police reports, the truck, weighing approximately 40 tons, collided head-on with a securing vehicle that was providing protection for a heavy goods transporter involved in a prior incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck driver failed to notice the securing vehicle in time.

The impact was severe enough that the truck pushed the securing vehicle approximately 200 meters before crashing into the median barrier, which it subsequently breached, crossing over into the opposing lane of traffic. Thankfully, both drivers involved in the accident sustained only minor injuries.

In the wake of the collision, other motorists were able to react quickly, either by braking in time or maneuvering around the scattered debris. However, a number of drivers chose to drive through the wreckage, putting themselves at risk, as noted by a spokesperson from the fire department.

The A2 motorway was completely closed in the direction of Berlin for about two hours to facilitate the clearing of debris and ensure safety measures were in place. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident.

This incident highlights the importance of road safety awareness, particularly in areas where accidents may occur. The cooperation of drivers in adhering to safety protocols can significantly reduce the risk of further incidents.
