Burglars Raid Community Gardens in Birkenfeld, Causing Significant Damage

Wed 11th Jun, 2025

In the early hours of Tuesday, a series of burglaries occurred at multiple community gardens in Birkenfeld, resulting in the theft of property valued in the five-figure range. The incidents took place in the Zwerlau area and along Gräfenhäuser Straße, where intruders gained access by cutting through wire fences and forcibly opening garden shed doors.

The burglars made off with various items that were not securely anchored, including lawn mowers, chainsaws, and outdoor furniture. At least five garden plots were affected by this brazen theft.

The Birkenfeld police station has initiated an investigation into the matter and is exploring potential connections to similar break-ins reported over the past weekend in the Fuchsloch area. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activities or has relevant information to contact the Neuenbürg police department at 07082 7912-0.

This incident raises concerns about the safety and security of community spaces, as local residents rely on these gardens for recreation and cultivation. The police are committed to apprehending those responsible and ensuring the community can enjoy its gardens without fear of further criminal activity.
