Mon 6th Oct, 2025

A building in Ubstadt-Weiher, located in the northern part of Baden-Württemberg, collapsed after a significant explosion. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, where a 78-year-old man was rescued from the debris and sustained severe injuries. He was airlifted to a specialized medical center due to serious burns, as reported by local authorities.

In addition to the elderly man, a woman was also injured, though her injuries were classified as minor. At this time, her identity remains unknown, and authorities have not confirmed if she was inside the building at the time of the explosion. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The explosion's cause is still under investigation. Preliminary assessments indicate that it originated in an outbuilding associated with a residential property, which housed a laundry room and a garage. The incident also caused damage to several other structures on the same street, prompting experts to evaluate the area for potential risks of further collapses. The extent of the damage is currently undetermined.

Numerous emergency personnel, including firefighters, medical teams, and police officers, were deployed to the site. A drone unit from the fire department was also called in to provide aerial surveillance and enhance situational awareness during the response.

It has been noted that a power outage affecting the community was unrelated to the explosion. Ubstadt-Weiher is home to approximately 13,400 residents as of late August.
