Tragic Jet Crash Claims Lives of Music Agent and Colleagues in San Diego

SAN DIEGO -- A private jet carrying a prominent music talent agent and five others tragically crashed into a residential area in San Diego early Thursday morning, resulting in multiple fatalities. The aircraft encountered power lines in foggy conditions just before 4 a.m., leading to a catastrophic impact on a home, which was quickly engulfed in flames.

The crash unleashed a wave of destruction, as jet fuel seeped into the streets and ignited several vehicles. Residents of the Navy-owned housing neighborhood were jolted awake by the loud explosion and subsequent fire, witnessing a terrifying scene of chaos and destruction.

San Diego Police Chief described the aftermath as horrific, with flames raging and the smell of jet fuel permeating the air. Fortunately, no residents lost their lives, but eight individuals were hospitalized for smoke inhalation and non-life-threatening injuries.

Among the deceased was Dave Shapiro, co-founder of Sound Talent Group, alongside two of his employees. The agency, known for representing various successful artists, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their colleagues and friends, extending condolences to their families.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported that six people were aboard the aircraft, though rescue efforts were hampered by the extensive damage. Authorities were working diligently to recover the bodies and provide updates on the situation.

In the aftermath, parts of the aircraft were scattered across a wide area, with debris found under power lines and in nearby streets. The home that was struck suffered severe damage, with the roof partially collapsed and the front heavily charred.

Residents in the vicinity described harrowing experiences as they sought safety amid the flames. One couple, whose home was directly impacted, recounted how they narrowly escaped after flames blocked their exit.

Firefighters and emergency responders swiftly evacuated at least 100 residents from the area, as the scene remained hazardous with jet fuel and smoke lingering in the environment. Officials cautioned that it was unclear when it would be safe for residents to return.

The ill-fated flight originated from a small airport in New Jersey and made a stop in Kansas before heading to San Diego. It was reportedly preparing to land at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport when it struck the power lines. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board have begun gathering evidence to determine the cause of the incident.

As authorities continue to assess the situation, the community grapples with the shock of the tragedy, recalling the bravery of those who helped each other during the crisis.
