Israeli forces have killed at least one person and injured several others in a series of violent incidents across the occupied West Bank.

On Monday, troops opened fire on a vehicle carrying three Palestinians near Bani Naim, east of Hebron, after the Israeli military said the car had rammed one of its vehicles. The shooting left one Palestinian dead and two others seriously injured, according to Palestinian officials.

The Palestinian General Authority of Civil Affairs identified the man killed as 38-year-old Hossam Alaa al-Din Abdul Jabbar Walad Ali, and said Israeli forces had withheld his body.

The Israeli military said on social media platform X that the three Palestinians had been driving suspiciously and had attempted to carry out a car-ramming attack on soldiers, adding that the vehicle accelerated toward a military vehicle and struck it before troops opened fire.

In a separate incident near Ramallah, in the area of Ramun, the Israeli military said soldiers were sent to investigate after reports that a vehicle had been set alight and that two suspected attackers, one reportedly armed with a knife, were in the area.

Israeli settlers also attacked Palestinians in the Imriha area southwest of Jenin, injuring three people.

The incidents come amid a sharp rise in violence across the West Bank ahead of Israeli elections later this month, with reports pointing to Israeli efforts to restrict Palestinian political participation.
