Gunman kills six in Krakow city centre attack
At least six people were killed and more than a dozen injured when a gunman with suspected far-right links opened fire in the centre of Krakow, Poland's second largest city. Three further bodies were later discovered at the suspect's home when police searched the property.
The attack began shortly before 15:00 local time (14:00 GMT) in Krakow's Main Market Square, a busy central area popular with tourists. Police said the attacker drove into the square before firing at random people from his car.
Footage from the scene showed people fleeing in panic as gunfire rang out. A passing tram was also hit during the shooting, with its windows shattered, though no passengers on board were hurt.
Armed police officers quickly arrived and exchanged gunfire with the suspect, who was shot dead within three minutes of the attack starting. Officials said this rapid response prevented further casualties.
