Ukraine's national police have released bodycam footage they say captures the period between two powerful Russian bomb strikes that killed at least 40 people at an aid distribution point and a shelter in the southern village of Kamyshuvakha.

The footage, recorded by a camera worn by one of the police officers killed in the attack, shows residents moving toward an underground shelter following the first strike on Monday. Shortly afterward, an explosion is heard and flames appear as the shelter itself is hit.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said as many as 30 people could still be trapped under debris, with search and rescue efforts continuing into a third day.

According to Ukrainian officials, nine glide bombs, some weighing up to 3,000kg, struck the village while residents had gathered to receive humanitarian aid.

The bombing left a large crater and completely destroyed the shelter in Kamyshuvakha, located in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region.

The footage, released on Wednesday, shows extensive devastation following the first strike, with stunned local residents surveying the wreckage.
