Boomi Enhances Cloud Integration with AI Agents to Streamline Business Data Management

Tue 20th May, 2025

In a significant development for business data management, Boomi has unveiled enhancements to its cloud integration platform, introducing AI agents designed to facilitate the creation and oversight of data processes. This update aims to address the increasing demand among clients for effective AI project implementation, particularly when dealing with incomplete or fragmented data.

The company announced these advancements during its recent conference, revealing that the new features include support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and an upgraded data management system based on the recently acquired Rivery platform. These additions are intended to transform Boomi's platform into a vital nexus for AI, corporate data, and process automation.

Central to this update is the introduction of AI agents, which are expected to minimize the number of necessary steps in various processes. The Boomi Agentstudio, set to launch on May 24, 2025, will allow users to create their own agents through a low-code interface, requiring no prior programming knowledge. This tool will enable users to manage and coordinate the deployment of these agents across their organizations effectively. Integrating with Amazon's Q-Index, these agents will be capable of gaining a deeper contextual understanding.

Additionally, Boomi has introduced four new AI agents that are immediately available at no extra cost within the Boomi Enterprise platform. Among these are the Integration-Advisor agent for reviewing integration processes, the API-Design agent for creating OpenAPI specifications, and the API-Documentation agent, which automatically generates business and technical documentation from API definitions. The new Data-Connector agent facilitates the design and creation of connectors for REST-based data sources. Furthermore, the Agent-Step function allows users to embed registered agents into Boomi's Process Canvas, enhancing the platform's functionality.

Moreover, the Agent Control Tower, included in the Agentstudio, will provide management capabilities, including monitoring, policy enforcement, and audit functionalities for AI agents operating in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The integration of Boomi Data Integration, leveraging Rivery's capabilities, brings enhanced functionalities to the Enterprise Platform, such as automated data pipelines and Change Data Capture (CDC). These features enable the capture, transformation, and preparation of data from various sources for analytics and AI applications. Additionally, with the acquisition of Thru, a managed data transfer provider, Boomi is now equipped to handle unstructured data, such as files and images.

The updated platform also includes API management features that allow external tools and resources to connect with AI agents, alongside support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This open standard facilitates secure bidirectional connections between corporate data, such as from ERP systems, and AI-driven tools. In the future, an MCP gateway will simplify the aggregation and detection of tools while ensuring security and governance.

Furthermore, Boomi has announced a multi-year partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) aimed at collaboratively supporting customers in developing, managing, and controlling generative AI agents, as well as migrating SAP applications to AWS. The Agent Control Tower will also integrate with Amazon Bedrock, and the platform will feature new native connectors for AWS services, including AWS Lambda, Amazon Bedrock, and DynamoDB.
