A severe car accident occurred in Bohmte, Lower Saxony, when a vehicle veered off the road and collided with the roof of a barn after hitting a child playing on a trampoline in a nearby garden. The incident took place on Saturday evening, resulting in serious injuries to the seven-year-old boy, and raising concerns about his condition.

According to police reports, the vehicle left the road around 8:00 PM, initially crashing into a parked car on a property before breaching a hedge. The vehicle then descended into a garden approximately 1.5 meters below street level, where it struck the trampoline with the child on it. Witnesses reported that the impact from the uneven terrain caused the car to become airborne, subsequently landing on the barn roof at a height of about three meters.

Residents nearby described the moment as chaotic, with one local recalling the loud crash and the immediate rush to understand what had happened. The child's mother was heard screaming after the incident, prompting a quick response from emergency services.

The vehicle was carrying a family, including a 42-year-old male driver, his 43-year-old wife, and their two sons aged 11 and 12, along with a 13-year-old boy. The mother sustained serious injuries, while the other passengers suffered minor injuries. All were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, although authorities have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash. A blood sample has been taken from the driver, and his driving license has been confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation.

Images from the scene depicted extensive damage, with branches torn from trees and broken tiles scattered across the lawn. The trampoline was completely destroyed, illustrating the force of the impact.

Emergency services, including 52 firefighters from various volunteer units and multiple rescue vehicles, were deployed to the scene. The fire department coordinated with specialists from the Technical Relief Organization (THW) to assess the structural integrity of the barn before attempting to remove the vehicle, which was lodged in the roof and required a crane for extraction. Two trauma counselors were also on-site to assist the affected families.

This incident underscores the potential dangers present in residential areas and the need for ongoing vigilance regarding road safety.
