On Saturday evening, law enforcement officers in Berlin's Charlottenburg district apprehended three individuals suspected of burglary after an unsuccessful attempt to flee through a stairwell window. The incident took place in a residential building on Leibnizstraße, where plainclothes officers observed the suspects entering the premises one after the other.

According to information released by the Berlin police, the suspects' actions raised suspicion, prompting officers to maintain surveillance of the property. After a short period, the three men attempted to exit the building in an unconventional manner by climbing out of a stairwell window. During this process, the window sustained damage, indicating a forceful escape attempt.

The first suspect descended to the sidewalk and tried to unlock the building's main entrance from outside, presumably to facilitate the escape of his accomplices. When this effort failed, the remaining two suspects followed by climbing out of the same window. The officers intervened promptly and detained all three individuals at the scene.

Subsequent searches of the suspects led to the discovery of tools typically used for breaking and entering, as well as stolen items believed to have originated from the apartments within the building. The seized items are currently being examined as part of the ongoing investigation to determine their provenance and link to reported thefts in the area.

The three detainees, aged 43, 47, and 49, were transported to police custody. Investigations are underway to ascertain whether the suspects are connected to other recent burglaries in the vicinity. The authorities are also working to establish the full extent of the damage caused to the property during the attempted escape.

Berlin police continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance among residents, urging the public to report suspicious activity in and around residential buildings. This incident underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat property crimes in the city and highlights the effectiveness of coordinated surveillance operations in apprehending suspected offenders.

The case remains under active investigation, with further updates expected as more details emerge regarding the suspects' backgrounds and potential involvement in additional criminal activities.
