Investigation Launched in Berlin: 19-Year-Old Shot in Leg Amid Confusion

Berlin is experiencing a concerning rise in the circulation of firearms, as evidenced by a recent incident where a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg. The young man is currently hospitalized with serious injuries. Preliminary reports suggest that he may have been mistakenly identified by the shooter.

According to police sources, the victim was walking with his 16-year-old girlfriend at Olivaer Platz in the Charlottenburg district when they were approached by a group of between six to eight individuals. One of the assailants reportedly claimed familiarity with the victim.

The victim denied knowing the individual and turned away, at which point the suspect produced a handgun and shot him from behind in the leg before the group fled the scene.

Emergency services were alerted by witnesses, and the police cordoned off the area for investigation. Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital, where a surgical procedure was performed. Fortunately, authorities have stated that the victim's life is not in danger.
