Heat Relief Initiative for Homeless Individuals in Berlin Begins

As summer approaches, the city of Berlin has launched a heat relief program aimed at supporting homeless individuals as they face the challenges posed by soaring temperatures. This initiative is specifically designed to provide shelter and essential resources to those living on the streets.

Starting this Sunday, the program will allow homeless individuals to seek refuge in designated cooling spaces throughout the city. These locations include various facilities, such as churches, where people can escape the harsh sun and high heat levels. The initiative has been confirmed by the city's Social Senator, who emphasized the importance of these services in preventing heat-related health risks.

In addition to providing access to cool spaces, social workers will be actively engaged in the community, distributing bottled water and sunscreen to those in need. The senator highlighted that extreme heat can pose significant dangers, especially for vulnerable populations living outdoors.

To support the heat relief efforts, approximately EUR300,000 has been allocated, underscoring the city's commitment to addressing the needs of its most vulnerable residents during the hot months ahead. Local residents are encouraged to be vigilant and offer assistance to homeless individuals who may be exposed to the sun without adequate protection.
