In a recent incident in Berlin's Oberschöneweide district, a 38-year-old man driving a rental car collided with a cyclist, resulting in multiple injuries to the cyclist. According to the Berlin police, the accident occurred on a Sunday evening.

The driver was navigating his rental vehicle down Rummelsberger Straße and attempted to turn onto Treskowallee when the collision happened. Reports indicate that he initially halted at a red traffic signal and proceeded only when it turned green. As he entered the intersection, a 39-year-old cyclist was approaching from the opposite direction.

The impact was significant, with the cyclist striking the hood of the car. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and the injured cyclist was transported to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, authorities have stated that his injuries, which include damage to the hip and knee, do not place him in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle was unharmed in the incident.

Both the bicycle and the rental car sustained damage as a result of the collision. The police have initiated an investigation to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the accident, though they have not yet assigned fault to either party involved.

This event is part of a broader concern regarding road safety in Berlin, where incidents involving vehicles and cyclists are increasingly common. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
