Seventeen Injured in Major Apartment Fire in Berlin's Neukölln District

The incident took place in a seven-floor residential complex located on Pannierstraße, where a ground-floor apartment became engulfed in flames shortly after 5 a.m.

According to official reports, the fire was first detected by a 59-year-old resident, who immediately evacuated the premises along with her 34-year-old son. Rescue operations were challenging due to heavy smoke throughout the building. Firefighters successfully evacuated a total of 27 residents from the smoke-filled structure. The fire resulted in 17 people sustaining injuries. Sixteen individuals suffered minor injuries and received on-site medical attention, while one person was transported to a hospital with more serious injuries. In the aftermath of the fire, emergency services established several operational units, including a section dedicated to the medical evaluation and support of affected residents. Those who were uninjured were temporarily housed in a fire department bus to ensure their safety and comfort during the emergency response.

The structure sustained significant smoke and fire damage, leading officials to declare the entire apartment building uninhabitable until further notice. Residents have been advised to seek alternative accommodation while the extent of the damage is assessed and necessary repairs are undertaken.
