Belkin Introduces 150-Watt Power Supply with Integrated USB-C Dock

Belkin, a subsidiary of Foxconn well-known for its collaboration with Apple, has unveiled an innovative docking station that features a robust 150-watt integrated GaN power supply alongside eleven diverse connection ports. This versatile solution is compatible with both Mac and Windows devices, making it an excellent addition for users across different platforms.

The USB-C 11-in-1 Pro GaN Dock stands out due to its built-in power supply, eliminating the need for an external power source, a common requirement in many traditional docking stations. Power is supplied directly through a Euro plug cable, ensuring a streamlined setup. The 150 watts provided are sufficient to charge devices like the MacBook Pro M4 (16-inch model), although it can only deliver a maximum of 96 watts through Power Delivery to the computer, which means it may not support the full charging speed under certain conditions. Additionally, 50 watts are allocated for powering peripheral devices.

Apple's own 16-inch MacBook Pro comes with a 140-watt power adapter, retailing for approximately EUR119. Belkin's new dock is priced at EUR199.99, which includes a variety of essential ports that cater to numerous connectivity needs, although it is worth noting that Thunderbolt support is absent.

The docking station is equipped with a range of ports: two USB-C ports (operating at 5 and 10 Gbps with output power of 20 and 7.5 watts respectively), a single USB-A port (10 Gbps with 7.5 watts), a 3.5 mm audio jack for input/output, and slots for both SD and microSD cards (3.0). Furthermore, it includes the aforementioned USB-C Power Delivery port that provides up to 96 watts, two HDMI 2.0 ports (capable of 4K output at 60 Hz), and a DisplayPort connection via USB-C, supporting 8K at 30 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz with data transfer speeds of 10 Gbps and 15 watts.

Additionally, the dock features Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. However, users should be aware that the ability to support three external displays is limited to Windows systems, a restriction stemming from Apple's compatibility limitations rather than an issue with the Belkin dock itself. Belkin has commenced shipping the dock, although specific weight details are yet to be disclosed. The dimensions of the device measure 9.1 cm x 5.4 cm x 13.2 cm, and it comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable included in the package.
