Intoxicated Driver in Bavaria Attempts Escape on Three Tires After Collision

An incident in the Amberg-Sulzbach district of Bavaria has drawn attention after a motorist, severely impaired by alcohol, attempted to flee the scene of an accident while driving a vehicle missing one of its front tires. The 40-year-old woman lost control of her car while navigating a curve near Auerbach in the Upper Palatinate region. Her vehicle veered off the road, striking several roadside markers and traffic signs. The impact caused a front tire to detach from the car.

Despite significant damage and the loss of a tire, the driver continued to operate the vehicle. Witnesses observed the car progressing along the road with sparks emanating from the exposed metal rim scraping against the asphalt. A bystander approached the damaged vehicle in an attempt to provide assistance and communicate with the driver. However, the driver disregarded the missing wheel and the visible hazards, choosing instead to accelerate and leave the scene.

The escape attempt concluded shortly thereafter when the driver stopped in a nearby parking lot. Law enforcement officers responded promptly and located the woman at the scene. She was found uninjured despite the circumstances of the crash and the subsequent hazardous attempt to drive away on three tires.

Authorities conducted a breathalyzer test, which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 2.26 per mille. This value is more than four times the legal limit for motorists in Germany. As a result, police mandated a blood sample to confirm the level of intoxication and confiscated the woman's driving license on the spot.

The woman now faces several legal consequences. These include charges of leaving the scene of an accident, operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and endangering road safety. The police are currently investigating the precise sequence of events leading up to the accident and are assessing the extent of the property damage incurred.

No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with driving under the influence and the importance of adhering to road safety regulations. Police continue to emphasize the necessity for all motorists to refrain from driving when impaired and to act responsibly in the event of a traffic accident.
