In Bavaria, the annual lottery has produced two new millionaires at the start of the year, while another substantial lottery prize has gone unclaimed. According to information from the Bavarian State Lottery, two individuals from the regions of Swabia and Lower Bavaria each won one million euros through the 'Bayern Millionen' year-end lottery.
The newly announced winners secured their fortunes with specific ticket numbers: the Lower Bavarian winner held ticket number 126079, and the Swabian winner had number 474742. Additionally, a participant from the Neu-Ulm district won 100,000 euros in the second-highest prize category with ticket number 272663. The 'Bayern Millionen' lottery was limited to 500,000 tickets, giving players a 1 in 250,000 chance to claim one of the top prizes.
While these newly minted winners celebrate their success, a significant lottery prize from a previous drawing has expired. A jackpot worth 1,077,777 euros from the supplementary 'Spiel 77' lottery, originally drawn on August 6, 2022, was not claimed. Despite extensive efforts, including public notices and posters in the Munich metropolitan area, the winner did not come forward before the official deadline at the end of 2025. As a result, the unclaimed money will be transferred to a special fund designated for future supplementary lottery draws, which are regularly organized and available to participants nationwide at no additional cost.
There are currently two other sizeable, unclaimed prizes in Bavaria. Winners have until the end of 2028 to claim nearly 18 million euros in one case and almost 7 million euros in another. The State Lottery and Casino Administration urges all participants to carefully check their tickets and compare ticket numbers, especially if they have taken part in additional lotteries. The agency also recommends that anyone who has gifted lottery entries remind recipients to verify their winnings before the expiration period lapses.
The news highlights the importance of maintaining lottery tickets and checking results promptly to avoid missing out on potential winnings. Lottery organizers continue to promote responsible participation and encourage all players to adhere to recommended guidelines for checking and securing their lottery entries.
