Sun 7th Dec, 2025

The municipal utility company of Bad Wörishofen has demonstrated robust financial performance while advancing significant infrastructure projects throughout the city. In its 75th year of operation, the utility achieved a higher-than-anticipated profit, enabling further investments in core public services.

Responsible for supplying electricity, gas, heating, water, and mobility solutions, the utility operates entirely under city ownership. This structure ensures that financial gains directly benefit the local community. In the most recent fiscal year, the company generated almost 1.3 million euros in profit. Subsequently, over 600,000 euros were allocated to the city's budget, helping to support municipal finances.

Infrastructure development remains a central focus. A major project completed recently was the renovation of the water pipeline to Schlingen, a three-kilometer-long connection. Nearly one million euros were invested to upgrade this vital water supply route. Looking ahead, the utility plans to channel approximately 3.2 million euros into further enhancement of its electricity grid to support the ongoing energy transition. An additional million euros will be dedicated to improving the water supply network, ensuring sustainability and reliability for residents.

Investment also extends to public transportation and parking facilities. The company has outlined plans to acquire a new electric bus, replacing the current model that has been in service for a decade. An application for public funding has already been submitted to the state government to support this transition. To finance the full suite of planned projects, the utility anticipates taking out loans totaling four million euros.

Efforts to boost customer engagement and service quality have also been prioritized. The launch of the SWBW app has attracted more than 500 registered users, providing easier access to services and account management. On social media, the utility maintains a strong presence, particularly on Instagram, where it highlights its role as a modern employer and training provider. Community outreach initiatives, such as a public event focused on drinking water supply, have been organized to enhance transparency and public awareness about key topics.

The combination of financial stability and forward-looking investments positions the Bad Wörishofen utility as a vital contributor to the city's development. Its comprehensive approach ensures continued modernization of essential infrastructure while supporting the city's economic and environmental objectives.
