Aue Fans Attacked on Return Journey from Cottbus

In a distressing incident during their return trip from an East German football derby, fans of FC Erzgebirge Aue were assaulted on an autobahn parking lot. The attack took place near the Thiendorf exit, where a group of 15 to 20 masked individuals targeted a small gathering of Aue supporters who had stopped for a break.

The assailants reportedly struck and kicked the fans, resulting in minor injuries among the victims. Several items of fan merchandise were stolen, including those from a transport vehicle parked nearby. Local authorities have confirmed they are investigating the incident, but the motives behind the attack remain unclear at this time. Witnesses are being sought to provide more information about the event.

This violent episode follows Aue's recent defeat against Energie Cottbus, where they lost 1-2 in the match. The club's management and fans are expressing their concerns regarding safety and the growing incidents of violence associated with football events.

The police urge anyone who may have witnessed the attack to come forward and assist in the investigation, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance in preventing such occurrences in the future.
