In Fürstenwalde, a 27-year-old asylum seeker from Cameroon was involved in a violent incident outside a mobile phone store, where he attacked staff members with a stone. This event unfolded on a Monday evening at the shop located on Eisenbahnstraße in the Oder-Spree district.
According to police reports, the assailant struck a 30-year-old employee in the face with the stone. A second staff member, aged 32, attempted to intervene and was met with violence as the attacker twisted his arm. A 22-year-old customer also sustained injuries during the melee.
Previous IncidentsThis altercation was not the first instance of aggression by the suspect towards the store's employees. On August 18, the same individual had previously been in the shop, where he brandished a knife after a dispute with a 33-year-old staff member. Following that incident, he fled the scene but was pursued by colleagues of the injured employee until he was detained at the train station in Fürstenwalde. A theft report was filed, and a ban from the store was subsequently issued.
It appears that the assailant returned to the store out of retribution. At approximately 5:45 PM on the day of the attack, he arrived at the shop and attempted to gain entry. When store personnel denied him access, he resorted to violence, using the stone to inflict harm on two employees who intervened.
Police ResponseFollowing the altercation, a large crowd gathered outside the store, and police described the atmosphere as chaotic and aggressive. Authorities responded by dispatching numerous officers to the scene, securing the area, and taking the attacker into custody. During a search, police discovered a knife in his possession.
Emergency medical technicians attended to the injured individuals on-site. The assailant, who resides in a facility in Frankfurt (Oder), has a history of violent behavior. Just hours prior to the latest incident, he had reportedly attacked passengers on a tram in the same city after they requested that he lower the volume of his music. His aggression resulted in injuries to a 49-year-old woman and two men aged 33 and 44.
Continuing Pattern of ViolenceDespite being apprehended by officers at that time, he was released shortly thereafter. Following his release, he allegedly stole a jacket from a clothing store in Fürstenwalde, where police again managed to detain him, with the stolen item still bearing its price tag.
Once more, he was set free, which led him to target the mobile phone shop again. After this latest episode of violence, he was initially held by police.
