Amazon US Lacks Availability of Switch 2 Amid Dispute with Nintendo

Tue 1st Jul, 2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is currently unavailable for purchase on Amazon's US platform, reportedly due to an ongoing disagreement between Nintendo and Amazon regarding pricing strategies.

According to a Bloomberg report, the conflict arises from Nintendo's dissatisfaction with third-party sellers on Amazon who have undercut the manufacturer's recommended retail price for the highly anticipated gaming console.

It is alleged that these marketplace sellers sourced the consoles in bulk from Southeast Asia, enabling them to offer the Switch 2 at lower prices than Nintendo intended in the US market. As a result of the inability to reach a resolution, Nintendo has opted to remove the console from sale on Amazon US.

In contrast, the Switch 2 remains available for purchase on Amazon in Germany, though at prices significantly exceeding the suggested retail price, which starts at EUR469.99.

Both companies have refuted the claims made in the Bloomberg article, with Nintendo stating that they do not disclose specific details about negotiations or contracts with retail partners. Amazon also contested the assertions made, labeling them as inaccurate.

Despite the absence from Amazon US, the Nintendo Switch 2 has achieved remarkable sales figures, reportedly moving 3.5 million units within just four days of its release. This launch has been characterized as the most successful in Nintendo's history, surpassing the original Switch's initial sales of 2.7 million units over the course of a month. Many industry observers consider this to be one of the most successful launches of a gaming console to date.
