Acer Enters Wearable Market with Smart Ring and Translation Earbuds

Mon 19th May, 2025

Acer has officially announced its foray into the wearable technology market by unveiling two innovative products: the 'Free Sense Ring' and 'AI TransBuds' earplugs, designed for real-time translation. This announcement was made during the Computex event in Taiwan, showcasing Acer's diversification beyond traditional computing devices.

The 'Free Sense Ring' is a lightweight smart ring, weighing between 2 and 3 grams, that aims to compete with established products like the Oura Ring and Samsung's Galaxy Ring. Unlike similar offerings, this device does not require a subscription model for its features. It is crafted from a lightweight titanium alloy and is designed to monitor various health metrics including heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, and sleep quality. Users can access their health data through a dedicated smartphone application, which also provides personalized wellness recommendations.

In addition to the smart ring, Acer introduced the 'AI TransBuds', wireless earbuds that facilitate multilingual conversations. These earbuds, weighing 61.5 grams, are capable of translating up to 15 different languages, including German, English, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese, in real-time. They are particularly useful for casual conversations, business meetings, live streams, and online learning sessions, as only one person needs to wear the earbuds for effective translation. Furthermore, the earbuds support live subtitles and transcription, allowing users to follow conversations in real-time and review them later.

The 'AI TransBuds' are equipped with a 50 mAh battery and come with a charging case that has a 400 mAh capacity. They utilize Bluetooth 5.4 technology for seamless connectivity with smartphones and laptops. However, Acer has not disclosed pricing or availability details for these new products, nor have they confirmed plans for launching them in Germany at this time.
