Many people travel to Nuremberg in December for one of the largest and most famous Christmas markets in Europe. The festival attracts around two million people to the area each year and this Saturday night, a few extra thousand people will be in the city for a boxing world title defence.

'King' Arthur Abraham (35-3-0) will defend the WBO super-middleweight belt that he won in August when he defeated fellow German Robert Stieglitz by unanimous decision in Berlin.

Attempting to dethrone the King is Mehdi Bouadla (26-4-0) of France. Few will have heard of the Frenchman but make no mistake, Bouadla has shared a ring with some of the world's top fighters. World champions Mikkel Kessler and Gennady Golovkin are just two of the big names to appear on the 30-year old's fight record and although both were defeats for Bouadla, there's no doubt he gained a great deal from both fights.

As we have come to expect from Sauerland promoted events, the undercard is also littered with top fights. Unbeaten Polishman Mateusz Masternak (28-0-0) is aiming for his first major title, the EBU cruiserweight title. Standing between Masternak and European glory is Juho Haapoja. Haapoja is the reigning champion of another version of the European belt and has successfully defended that crown on three occassions.

Undefeated light-middleweight 'Golden' Jack Culcay (13-0-0) is also on the bill again. After overcoming Britain's Mark Thompson in September, Culcay will face Frenchman Jean Michel Hamilcaro (17-4-3) who hasn't lost any of his previous 13 fights.

Michael Sprott (36-19-0) has been given a rematch with Edmund Gerber (22-0-0), Germany's number one heavyweight. The German beat the Reading man back in September when the referee somewhat prematurely waved an end to the fight after Sprott was knocked down. Up until round four it looked as though Sprott, who has been a sparing partner for the Klitschkos, was well in control and ahead on points.

Gerber's face was bloodied and showed signs of worry as he tried to find a way back into the contest. Against the run of play he floored Sprott with a solid right hand to register his 21st professional victory. What happened after the stoppage is something Sprott will want to forget, but now he get's a second bite of the cherry. This will be the fourth straight fight in Germany for 2010 Prizefighter winner.

Completing the line-up of home fighters are Tyron Zeuge, London 2012 Olympian Enrico Koelling and local lad Wanik Awdijan who makes his second appearance in the professional ranks.
