ABDA Champions Women's Heart Health on GoRed Day 2025
The health of women's hearts often receives insufficient attention, prompting initiatives such as the upcoming #GoRed Day 2025, supported by the ABDA (Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists). This event is organized by Healthcare Frauen e.V. (HCF), a business network of prominent women leaders in the healthcare sector, in collaboration with the Heart-Brain Alliance and various other stakeholders.
Scheduled for February 7, 2025, the initiative encourages individuals nationwide to wear a red accessory or clothing item. Participants are invited to share selfies on social media using the hashtags #frauenherzenschlagenanders, #HerzHirnAllianz, and #GoRed. This effort aims to empower women to take charge of their health and raise awareness among the general public about the unique risks and symptoms associated with cardiovascular diseases in women.
Research indicates that women face a significantly higher mortality rate from cardiovascular diseases compared to men, partly due to lesser-known risk factors, such as hypertension during pregnancy. Additionally, women may experience atypical symptoms during a heart attack, which can include fatigue, nausea, sweating, or back pain, rather than the classic chest pain commonly associated with men.
To kick off the campaign, approximately 160 guests from the fields of medicine, business, politics, and society will gather in Berlin on January 30 to discuss strategies for preventing and treating cardiovascular conditions among women. Anke Rüdinger, the deputy chairperson of the German Pharmacists Association (DAV), is among the speakers expected to address the audience.
