A111 Closure in Berlin: Four Nights of Complete Roadblocks Ahead

Sat 17th May, 2025

The A111 motorway in Berlin is set to undergo significant renovations, leading to a complete closure for four consecutive nights starting Monday, May 19. This closure will affect the section between the Schulzendorfer Straße and Am Festplatz exit, as reported by the Traffic Information Center (VIZ).

From 9 PM to 5 AM each night, all entry and exit points along this stretch will be inaccessible due to ongoing construction work. Motorists are advised to account for potential delays, as preliminary roadblocks will commence at 8 PM.

The primary goal of these construction activities is to conduct essential maintenance on the roadway and various tunnels. The so-called tunnel revisions will take place in several locations, including the Tegel Airport Tunnel (TFT), Tegel Town Center Tunnel (TTO), Forstamt Tegel Tunnel (TFA), and Beyschlagsiedlung Tunnel (TBS).

During this period, only one lane of the main road will be open for use during daylight hours. Traffic will be rerouted through adjacent exit points and the Stolpe rest area to manage the expected congestion.

In addition to the nighttime closures, the VIZ announced that the A111 entry ramp from Stolpe heading towards Berlin will also be closed from May 19 to May 23 due to asphalt work.

Motorists should remain vigilant, as the weekend prior to the closures may already present traffic disruptions in Berlin due to various large-scale events, street festivals, and ongoing construction efforts. These activities are likely to further complicate travel plans for those navigating the city.

The authorities encourage drivers to plan ahead and consider alternative routes during this period to minimize inconvenience.
