Vaccination day without appointment in Munich

There are days in Riem when 9,000 injections are administered in one day. These are figures that really push the medical and non-medical staff at the vaccination center to the limits of their capacity. On an average day, more like 4,000 syringes are drawn up and administered.

Anyone who had made an appointment beforehand was vaccinated. Meanwhile, the city also offers open vaccination days, anyone can then be vaccinated in Riem without an appointment - provided they are registered in the Bayimco portal. The first special campaign took place this Sunday.

1,644 people would have been vaccinated on Sunday without prior appointment in Riem. Health officer Beatrix Zurek (SPD): "The good start of our vaccination offer without prior registrations shows that we are on the right track with our vaccination campaign. "Less than 2,000 people a day are, of course, significantly fewer vaccinated than the vaccination center would be capable of. It turns out, vaccination fatigue is spreading in Munich, too. 65.9 percent of Munich residents over the age of 18 have now received their first shot, and 52.1 percent have also received their second. Ten days earlier, on July 9, the first vaccination rate was 63.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the seven-day incidence rose from 11.5 to 17.9 within this period on Monday. In this context, the incidence is probably rising especially in the age groups that have not yet been vaccinated.

Thus, the State Office of Public Health shows the incidence for Bavaria, unfortunately not for the city, also for the different age groups. In the age group over 80, the incidence is currently two (one the previous week), and in the age group between 60 and 79, it has been constant at two for three weeks.

On the other hand, if we look at the younger ones, we see an upward trend. In the 15 to 19 age group, the incidence has risen from 13 to 22 in the past three weeks, and from ten to 15 in the 20 to 34 age group. It could therefore be worthwhile for the city to advertise its vaccination campaign more specifically among the younger people over 18.
