Netanyahu Arrives in Washington for Crucial Ceasefire Talks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has landed in the United States, marking the beginning of crucial negotiations aimed at establishing a ceasefire in Gaza, according to local media reports. Upon his arrival at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, he was greeted by several officials before proceeding to the nation's capital.

On this Monday, discussions regarding the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire are set to commence. Netanyahu is expected to meet with U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, with an agenda focusing on Israel's negotiating positions. A significant meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled for Tuesday.

This week, Witkoff will also engage in talks with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and high-ranking Egyptian representatives. These discussions are pivotal as they follow previous indirect negotiations where Israel and Hamas agreed to initiate talks about a second phase of the ceasefire on the 16th day since its implementation, which falls on this Monday.

However, the Qatari Foreign Minister has expressed uncertainty regarding the commencement of this next phase of negotiations. The second phase is expected to address the release of over 60 remaining hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
