On Saturday, October 14, 2023, Munich will once again come alive with "More Museum for All" as over 90 art temples and collections, smaller museums, galleries, churches, studios, and special places open their doors from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM for the "Long Night of Munich Museums." For those seeking to immerse themselves in Munich's museum landscape in a unique atmosphere, this event is a must. No matter where you start your nocturnal tour, the offerings are vast, diverse, and brimming with surprises.

Art, Culture, Science, and History Await

During the Long Night, visitors can explore art, culture, natural sciences, technology, and history on all routes and in almost every corner of the city.

MVG shuttle buses will transport visitors along six different routes from place to place. Additionally, two special bus lines offer a museum experience from the moment you step on board. Vintage buses shuttle between the Deutsches Museum on the Isar and the Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum on Theresienhöhe.

At the Rollende Museum (Rolling Museum), passengers can "board and experience history" as vintage vehicles travel between the Deutsches Museum on the Isar and the Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum on Theresienhöhe. At the Deutsches Museum, the theme is "Experiences with Stars!" Planetarium presentations, guided tours, workshops, and science shows make the natural sciences and technology come alive.

The European Patent Office by the Isar opens its doors entirely for the first time, from the basement to the 10th floor. Overview tours offer the chance to experience classics from the EPO collection and discover previously unseen acquisitions. Visitors are also invited to linger at a bar, an exhibit storage area, a future lab featuring media art, and an exhibition on art and climate change.

A Concentration of Art in the Kunstareal

In the Kunstareal (art district), visitors can explore renowned large collections such as the Alte Pinakothek, Pinakothek der Moderne, Museum Brandhorst, Lenbachhaus, Glyptothek, and the State Museum of Egyptian Art within a short walk. Many smaller museums, including the Museum Mineralogia, Paläontologische and Geologische Museum, NS Documentation Center, and institutions like the University of Television and Film Munich, offer special programs such as guided tours or presentations.

For children and families, there is an afternoon program from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in many places. City and museum tours, workshops, and interactive programs cover topics ranging from antiquity and contemporary art to natural sciences, technology, Munich's city history, and the wider world.
