Jupiter, Venus and the moon are meeting up, you can join too

Mon 26th Mar, 2012

TMT brings you closer to the sky this coming Tuesday, with a live broadcast of the junction of 3 heavenly bodies: a crescent moon, Venus and Jupiter.

Starting at 3:00 AM on Tuesday, the Slooh Space Camera will broadcast a real-time feed of this event. Slooth is a robotic telescope service that provides live views from several telescopes from around the world. You can learn more here about this cool service (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slooh).

So what will you see? Something like what is shown in the top image on the left, which is a representation of what you should expect to see on Tuesday.  Closer to the time the lower image will convert to a live stream.

"This will be the best Venus-Jupiter conjunction for years to come, While bright to the unaided eye, they're even better when seen through a telescope" NASA officials said in a statement.

If you enjoy this, and would like to share your thoughts or ask any questions, the US Space Agency is hosting a live chat event at their website: http://www.nasa.gov/connect/chat/jupiter_venus.html.
