Munich. German integration policy has been a hot discussion topic in government recently. Munich Mayor Christian Ude (SPD) has his own opinion about the policy of the federal government; "There is an appalling contradiction between the nice words and actual financial decisions", he stated. The black-yellow government is operating a savings strategy which contradicts the integration of many people with an immigrant background.
In Munich alone the government cut the funds for professional training of unemployed migrants by 15 million euros. The next item of saving was integration courses, where foreigners learn German. These courses were a big success in Munich from the start. The number of participants was rapidly rising. Last year there were 4000 participants with more than 60 percent of them migrants. 70 percent of them were women.
