Bus stuck under bridge
Munich. 15 students from Ludwigshafen were slightly injured when their bus got stuck under a bridge. The driver underestimated the height of the bus.
It was the first day of their school trip on monday, when 57 students of a secondary school in Ludwigshafen were travelling in a coach when the accident happened. The driver misjudged the height of the bus and got stuck under a bridge at Holledauer Straße/Dachauer Straße.
There was a total of 64 people on the bus, with 57 students and 6 teachers on a school trip to Munich from monday to friday. 15 students, sitting on the second level of the double-decker, were slighty injured by the splintering glass and some sustained whiplash. The driver was not injured. 13 students had to be taken to hospital, the remaining pupils and teachers were brought back to their hotel where a crisis intervention team took care of them.
The bridge was blocked for the S-Bahn line S1 until 2.30 PM, when a structural enginner checked and approved the bridge's stability. Dachauer Straße was blocked from 12.50 to 3 o'clock.
