60-Year-Old Woman Arrested Following Fatal Stabbing of 81-Year-Old

Mettmann, North Rhine-Westphalia - A tragic incident occurred in a multi-family residence on Monday evening, resulting in the death of an 81-year-old woman. Emergency services were dispatched to the Elberfelder Straße around 7:45 PM after a neighbor reported suspicious noises coming from the victim's apartment. Upon arrival, first responders found the elderly woman critically injured from multiple stab wounds.

Despite immediate attempts at resuscitation, the victim, identified as Renate L., succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Preliminary reports suggest she had been attacked multiple times with a knife.

Authorities apprehended a 60-year-old woman from Mettmann at the crime scene later that evening. She is considered a suspect in the case and was reportedly present in the building during the incident.

Residents of the building reported having witnessed a heated argument between the alleged perpetrator and the victim earlier that same day. One neighbor recounted hearing cries for help emanating from Renate L.'s apartment.

It has been revealed that the suspect was a close acquaintance of the victim. Neighbors indicated that the two women shared a friendly relationship, and it was noted that the suspect's partner also resides in the same building as Renate L.

One local resident expressed their shock, stating that Renate was a vibrant and kind-hearted individual, known for her active lifestyle, which included driving her own car.

A homicide investigation team has been assigned to the case, and the Wuppertal public prosecutor's office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, focusing on the suspicion of homicide.
