500 million MVG passengers in 2009

Munich transport company (MVG) hit a new passenger record: for the last year on the U-Bahn, bus and tram networks, 500 million transported passengers was reached for the first time.

2009 was the fifth consecutive year of passenger growth. MVG chief executive Herbert König said, "Despite a difficult economic situation, we were able to keep our passenger numbers high, but also to improve them slightly again.  The popularity of Munich public transport remains high and the new passenger record of half a billion people transported proves this.
